Creative Services

What I offer

I have 10+ years of experience in the field of media and creative communications. Some of my past titles include journalist, communications expert, science communicator, communications consultant, communications director, creative director, content strategist and head of strategy. Here are the services I offer. They can also be bundled up into a comprehensive role.

  • I have a 360 experience of creative communications, meaning I can both lead and execute a variety of actions. This I why I'm great at managing projects where you need to understand written content, visual design, web design and social media aspects. I work fluently with content producers, graphic designers, photographers and developers and always think about the big picture instead of just doing my part.

  • I produce anything and everything from long-form journalistic articles to whitepapers and reports, from website copy to social media posts. I've written for journalistic outlets as well as scientific and commercial outlets—both in English and Finnish. My speciality lies in turning complex information into engaging content. • I help leaders with big missions achieve the type of visibility they need. This means understanding what is most important, and communicating it to the right audiences. This can include media and public speaking pitches, ghostwriting and social media planning. I also support experts and leaders with their presentations and media presence through coaching.

Some examples of my past projects

I coached a group of Fairtrade Finland experts to communicate their expertise, expand their networks and develop their personal brands across different channels. I helped them identify their core messages and express themselves in a way that felt natural to them instead of forcing any specific channel or style upon them.

I wrote long-form articles and personal interviews for the Millennium Technology Prize, awarded by Technology Academy Finland. I got to interview some of the world’s most intelligent people (including Nobel prize winners) such as Frances Arnold, Robert Langer, Shuji Nakamura, Vinod Khosla, and write about a range of topics from the future of AI to the value of grit in innovation. I also supported the foundation in ideation and planning.

I created and hosted a research communications bootcamp called Skolar for scientists from around the world. Me and my team coached a cohort of scientists to pitch their wildest ideas in just three minutes at the startup conference Slush in the hope of winning €100K to advance their idea. Most had no prior experience of any of this, and it was a joy to follow their incredible journeys and help them spread their wisdom.

I helped the team of a Finnish transition movement called Jalotus to establish a more strategic online presence and scale their reach to inspire more and more people to adopt ecologically sustainable lifestyles. I continue working with them to advance this mission and help more and more people see the value of sustainability.

To help social scientists and researchers in the humanities and arts create more societal impact, I wrote a whitepaper in collaboration with the Finnish Research Impact Foundation. In the report we analysed the status quo of academia-industry collaboration within these fields of science and sought solutions that could facilitate impactful collaborations between scientists and private enterprises.

I helped an environmental prize hosted by three foundations (Tiina and Antti Herlin Foundation, Nessling foundation and Svenska Litteratursällskapet) to establish better workflow for the project, crystallise the most important angles for the internal and external communications for the prize and create an understanding of the resources needed for the project in the future.

Journalistic writing, weekly online publication and books. I write about things I’m interested in. I have a weekly publication about building a impactful career as a creative freelancer, I’ve written two non-fiction books about working life and my stories have also been published in journalistic outlets such as Helsingin Sanomat, Image and several women’s magazines.

“I hired Aurora to write several scientific articles for the Millennium Technology Prize in English. The articles were based on interviews with prize winners, stakeholder representatives, and other specialists. Aurora did an excellent job brainstorming ideas with me and the rest of our team, asking the right questions, and writing the articles. She is very reliable, and her writing is outstanding, with a strong journalistic approach. I could always count on her to work to the highest standards with our partner representatives. I warmly recommend Aurora for interview and writing assignments in English that require familiarity with complex topics in science and technology.”
